East Fork Greenbrier River/Poca Run Large Woody Material Project, Monongahela National Forest, West Virginia, Monitoring Report - 2015
More than 250 pieces of in-stream LWM were installed in the East Fork Greenbrier River and Poca Run during 2013 and 2014 to re-introduce, in form and function, natural large wood structure needed to enhance aquatic habitats and benefit native aquatic communities. Of the 254 LWM pieces installed, about 65% had rootwads attached. Heavy equipment was used to place 120 pieces of LWM in the East Fork Greenbrier River and 51 pieces in Poca Run during August 2013. In the summer 2014, an additional 44 pieces of LWM were added in the East Fork Greenbrier River using grip-hoist techniques and 39 pieces were added with heavy equipment in Poca Run (sites 4 and 5) as part of a regional LWM training workshop.
