Lockwood Brook Culvert Replacement VT

Lockwood Brook Culvert Replacement, Fayston, VT

This project will replace a culvert on Lockwood Brook, a tributary to the Mill Brook and Mad River, opening up 2.5 miles of brook trout habitat that will provide thermal refugia for native trout foraging and spawning and improve flood resilience.

This project will reconnect habitat in the Lockwood Brook watershed. Reconnecting these waters will reduce water temperatures, enhance the ecosystem integrity and stream equilibrium, improve flood resilience, and open 2.5 miles of upstream habitat that provides thermal refugia, spawning, and foraging habitat for native trout. This project is located upstream of a 2015 barrier removal project.
