10th International Charr Symposium in Japan: First Announcement
The 10th international Charr Symposium will be held on June 14 - 18, 2021, in Nikko, Japan. Symposium registration will open in June 2020.
The International Symposium on Charr (genus Salvelinus) attracts a diverse community that uses charr in research, recreation, and as a food resource. The first conference was held in 1981 in Winnipeg, Canada. Recently, the symposium has been held every 3 years and gathers more than 100 charr researchers who will present papers and posters on a wide range of aspects of charr. Research areas include genetics, evolution, ecology, life history, aquaculture, fisheries, management, conservation, parasitology and more.
We are planning to have a banquet on June 15th . You can enjoy visiting the historic areas of Nikko during your stay. We will also provide an excursion to a native charr habitat and Lake Biwa in the Kansai region after the conference.
